Socialcam iPhone app allows for quick video uploads

With inexpensive flip cameras and video cameras built in to cell phones, shooting video is effortless. Uploading it to the web to share with family and friends typically requires a little more work.

But now, with the Socialcam iPhone app (free), you can shoot video, upload it to Facebook, and tag all your friends in a matter of minutes, no extra cables or connections necessary.

To access the app, you need to sign into Facebook via your iPhone. Select the video camera feature, and get busy. Once you have a clip you like, it’s automatically uploaded to your Facebook page. You can add a title, and tag the subjects of your video.

All videos you shoot and save are automatically fed into the app’s memory feed, so you can easily locate them at a later date.

The Socialcam app does have a Twitter-esque aspect to it in that you can choose other Socialcam users to follow, and they can choose to follow you. This feature is most handy if you’re trying to stay in touch with family and close friends who live elsewhere.

It would be nice if the app was in sync with other social networking sites, rather than being limited to Facebook. And it would be even cooler if you could upload the video directly onto a YouTube channel. Nevertheless, it is pretty handy with the features that it does include.
