Flick your way past the undead in ZombieSmash HD for iPad

ZombieSmash HD ($2.99) is a fast-paced survival game where flicking zombies into the air is your primary method of defense. The objective is to defend your house from wave after wave of attacks by the undead. The game is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play, yet challenging enough for the hardcore gamers to sink their teeth into.

You play as the character Joey who must defend his home against zombie attack. Zombies will continuously advance toward the house from both sides of the screen. Your primary weapon is your finger, flicking the zombies into the air and watching them crash to the ground and break into pieces. You can touch and hold a zombie to lift it up, and throw it to the ground for an even greater effect. The rag doll physics are done very well, making the zombies twist in every direction. You can even use both hands and all your fingers to flick multiple zombies at the same time. The game isn’t advertised as multiplayer, but two people can comfortably flick on the same iPad. Each person can defend his or her own side of the house.

In addition to your finger, there are other weapons that can be used during the game. There are empty slots at the top of the screen that may be filled with weapons for later use. Tapping on the weapon will engage it for action. For example, when you tap the gun, you have the option to shoot the zombies from the house. There are also rocks, land mines and many other surprises you can unlock as the game progresses. You can also upgrade these weapons with the stars you collect from dead zombies.

The graphics, sound and animations are all top-notch. Everything looks and feels great on the iPad. It might seem like too easy of a task, flicking zombies into the air, but, as the waves of zombies get larger and faster, you’ll find yourself frantically flicking on both sides of the screen, with both hands. ZombieSmash is absolutely one of the most addicting games I’ve played in a long time, and will undoubtedly be staying on my iPad for quite a while.
