Yes, they can be edited.

Sorry, her is more: You can create them as you like and use codes for first-name, ex. Hi (xcf), bla bla. Then (xcf) will be replaced with first-name of your selected contact. Same message can then be reused for all your contacts. You can import templates from our web site, or any web site or html email supporting the import URL, and you can share your message templates among your contacts by email.

For us developers, you can check if the users have Alive Text installed by this code snippet:
