Dragon Go! (iPhone, iPad) Free
Dragon Go! is a search app that uses the power of your voice and a series of mobile websites to find the information you need on the Internet. The app responds to voice input, allowing you to ask it for information like movie show times for a specific film. Dragon Go! recognizes what you’re looking for and searches the appropriate site, like Fandango for movie tickets or Yelp! for restaurant reviews.
You’ll need an active Internet connection for Dragon Go! to work, so make sure you’ve got the 3G data or you’re near a Wi-Fi hotspot. The app also supports other functions, like quick references using Wikipedia and social networking integration with Facebook and Twitter, so you can share the things you find.
Alfred (iPhone, iPad) Free
Finding great restaurants, or even deciding what you’re in the mood to eat, can be tough. Alfred makes the process easier by taking information about the things you like and the restaurants you frequent that are your favorites, and returning suggestions for places you might like to eat. All you have to do is plug in some information to give Alfred something to go off of, and before long it starts predicting what you might like.
You can also improve your recommendations by telling Alfred if you know and like them or not. The app continually fine-tunes its process based on your input and reactions. It also contains a search feature that allows you to tune your results to what you like and what you feel like at that moment.
Xtreme Wheels (iPhone, iPad) $3.99
The controls are pretty simple in Xtreme Wheels, a 2-D motocross game that’s all about speed. One button is for throttle, another for brake– those are controlled with your right thumb. On your left is a slider that lets you tilt your bike forward and back. The goal is to get through each of the game’s courses, mostly made up of rails and boxes scattered through a warehouse, as quickly as possible, without crashing or falling.
Of course, since this is a motocross game, you’re going to want to take advantage of your bike and try to do tricks and stunts when you can to drive up your high score. You can also switch between different control schemes, like the analog slider or an accelerometer setup, and track your scores and those of your friends and rivals on Game Center’s leaderboards.
SuperRope (iPhone, iPad) Free
Vertical scroller SuperRope will remind many players of similar titles like Doodle Jump and Mega Jump, but with a different twist. The character in the game the player controls isn’t jumping from platform to platform, but instead is endlessly climbing ropes floating in the air. Your job is to swipe left or right to jump from rope to rope before hitting the top of one and running out of upward momentum – and thus falling to your doom. Oh, and along the way, there are coins and other things to collect.
You’ll unlock a total of five animal characters to control and more worlds to play through as you raise your high score and climb ever higher in SuperRope. Your scores are tracked on the game’s leaderboards care of Game Center.
