Let Po from Kung Fu Panda tell your kids a story in today’s lead Fresh Apps. We’ve also got a new app that lets you make free voice over Internet phone calls, and one that lets you use your finger to crop and cut photos on your iPad. Check them out below.
Kung Fu Panda Holiday Storybook (iPhone, iPad) $2.99
This e-book app lets kids read along with the story, with full audio from the characters, and a bit of an I Spy-type game mixed in on each of the pages. The app will lead readers through the story, or let them flip pages on their own, giving kids the ability to play with it at their own pace -- plus Kung Fu Panda maintains the comedy and feel of the films.
WebCut (iPad) $0.99
What’s the easiest way to crop and cut a photo? By just touching it with your finger, obviously. The iPad and WebCut make it possible to trim any photo you have to exactly what you want, without the pain of trying to manipulate a mouse cursor, or worse -- actually use scissors.
That’s it. WebCut lets you cut your photos, save them and share them, maximizing simplicity and minimizing its functions to just one job. It’s cheap, it’s simple, and it’s easy: the best combination for an app.
Viber - Free Phone Calls (iPhone) Free
Viber is a bit like Skype, giving users the ability to make free voice phone calls over the Internet to other app users. The app costs you nothing, and the only requirements is that the person receiving the call has Viber installed, too.
You can also call any number, at a price, with the app, and it uses your iPhone’s contact list, rather than a buddy list like Skype and other VoIP services. Viber is limited to iPhone right now, but Viber Media is working on support for iPod Touch and iPad calls, too.
