Have an iPhone and like Starbucks in New York City? An update to the Starbucks’ Card Mobile app is one of our Fresh Apps for today. Check out the rest below.
Alien Attack (Jet Defence Ninja Racing Game) (iPhone) $0.99
Alien Attack uses pinching and stretching controls for its racing game, which sounds like it could be an interesting take on the standard “tilt to steer” scheme. It’s enabled with OpenFeint, which allows for leaderboards, and includes a lot of retro-style 8-bit sensibilities.
Starbucks Card Mobile update (iPhone) Free
Starbucks fans in New York City and Long Island just got a new function for their mobile card app – they can now add money to a Starbucks card account and swipe a code on the screen of their iPhone in lieu of using an actual physical Starbucks card.
Previously, the card code swiping ability was only available in certain cities as Starbucks was testing it, and in the roughly 1,000 Starbucks locations inside Target stores. Seattle users had access to the card technology, as did those in Cupertino, San Jose, Mountain View and Sunnyvale, California. So it’s at least a step in the right direction of all users being able to swipe their phones instead of their cards for a coffee.
PBS for iPad (iPad) Free
The app allows you to watch series and read various things about PBS and its programming. It’s also tapped-in to local PBS stations in your area, giving you things like show guides so you know what you can watch live on TV and when. Finally, PBS includes video you can stream from its archives as well.
