Prep for your next awesome haircut with our first app worth downloading today: Bangstyle. It's a social network dedicated to hair styles, allowing you to find pictures of cool styles and follow interesting people in the industry. We've also got Pling Messenger, an app that turns your iOS devices into push-to-talk walkie-talkies, and Questimate!, a quiz game that asks you fun questions and asks you to estimate the answers – questions like how many giraffes you'd need to stack to match the height of the Statue of Liberty.
Bangstyle update (Free)
What’s it about? Bangstyle is a social network focused on hair, helping users capture photos, track great hair styles, and find information that can help them inform their next haircuts.
What’s cool? Used to be, if you wanted a specific haircut and you were hoping to explain it to the person about to cut and style your hair, you'd probably need a photo. That usually meant butchering your magazines to find the style you were looking for so the person about to cut your hair could replicate it. Bangstyle eliminates all that cutting and irritation by creating a social network that's all about cool hair styles. The app is filled with photos of different styles that you can use when you're actually about to sit in the chair, and it also supplies cool new ideas by allowing you to follow hair stylists and other notable people in the industry, see what they think is cool and what new styles they've tried, and more. You can also upload and share your own hair pics to let others see your styles. The app's new update adds new Facebook and Google+ login capabilities, the ability to follow (or “stalk”) different stylists, and a personal feed of all the people and styles you're interested in.
Who’s it for? If you're interested in hair styles and the social subculture that surrounds them, check out Bangstyle.

Pling Messenger (Free)
What’s it about? Turn your iPhone or iPad into a walkie-talkie with Pling Messenger, and app that gives you push-to-talk capabilities on your mobile device.
What’s cool? Your iOS devices have all kinds of cool messaging capabilities, especially when you add apps to the mix – you can send text, pictures, audio, video and a whole mess of hybrids to mix the formats together. Pling Messenger adds a different format to your audio communications, focusing on short bursts sent quickly across your device's Internet connection – effectively enabling push-to-talk, walkie-talkie-style messaging. The app lets you touch a virtual button, record a quick message, and send it along, and receive the same from whoever you're talking to.
Who’s it for? If you want an alternative to sending texts, check out Pling Messenger.
What’s it about? Questimate! is a game that challenges you to answer interesting (and often weird) estimation questions – like how long a mile is in jelly beans, or what year the cell phone was invented.
What’s cool? Weird questions that tax your logical thinking are on offer in Questimate!, and they're all a bit on the fun, goofy and unexpected side. Each of the questions requires a combination of guessing and estimation, and Questimate! makes it easy to play both alone and with friends – you can answer questions on your own, or see how you stack up to others. The game also lets you create your own questions from its pool of choices, and provides a number of different formats for answers: you might compare the height of a sheep to a cat by using touch controls to change the size of two pictures of the animals, for example.
Who’s it for? Questimate! is a bit of a learning game and aimed at children age 9 and older, but it can be fun for adults (and especially for families) as well.
