Here are three great iPhone apps to download. eBay are getting into the rewards shopping business with a significant update to the RedLaser Barcode Scanner app. Meanwhile, Parking Panda can help you not only find, but also reserve, a parking spot in select cities. Finally, iPad game Black Water sees you riding out west as you uncover the mysteries of a small, dusty town.
RedLaser Barcode Scanner update (Free)
What’s cool? The company has partnered with Best Buy, and the app allows you to see special offers, browse open-stock items, and view relevant items when you visit one of the electronics retailer’s 1,100 stores. RedLaser also lets you search for coupons and offers from your favorite stores with RedLaser Deals powered by RetailMeNot, and lets you store your loyalty card info within the app, too.
Who is it for? More than just a barcode and price comparison app, eBay is clearly getting into the coupon and rewards game with this update, so the app is a handy one for any shopper or deal searcher to have around.
What’s it like? ShopKick is RedLaser’s biggest competitor, but it allows customers to get rewards from more stores (like Target, Macy’s and Crate & Barrel). Other apps like WeReward offer rewards for checking-in to various businesses.
Parking Panda (Free)
What’s cool? Parking Panda lets you reserve your parking space directly from the app, and enjoy savings of up to 70 percent on parking fees. These can be anything from empty spaces in parking garages and commercial lots, to a private business lot or residential space. Transactions are handled securely via the app and confirmation is pretty much instantaneous.
Who is it for? Though Parking Panda allows you to find parking in many cities, the reservation service is only available for Washington, D.C., Baltimore and the San Francisco Bay Area currently. It will spread to Austin, Philadelphia and Los Angeles soon, according to the company.
What’s it like? There are some other parking reservations apps out there like EasyPark (for Vancouver only) or Airport Parking Reservations if you’re traveling somewhere and need an extended-stay lot. There are plenty of space finders, it’s just the reservation aspect that is often missing.
Black Water ($1.99, iPad)
What’s cool? You witness a sheriff’s murder and become deputy of a small, dusty town called Black Water. You’ll ride horses, guide stage coaches, track down runaway trains, and fend off waves of bandits through towns, deserts and valleys. A beautiful comic strip story emerges as the game progresses and as you unravel the secrets of Black Water.
Who is it for? Fans of action and adventure should get a kick out of Black Water. There are 30+ levels and 50+ skill level upgrades plus plenty of weapons like revolvers, shotguns and sticks of dynamite. The terrain is dynamic and there’s plenty of gameplay variety on offer.
