I agree. I feel like there isn't much that is new especially in the latest Snow Lion ;) OSX. Cook even hints at this when he says he loves his mac but uses that table more.
First of all there is no Snow Lion , its either snow leopard or just Lion. Mountain Lion has yet to come out. Mac OS is the best computer hands down. Once you try it you will never go back
I stopped reading at "As the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook runs arguably the most important company in the world."
Fucking materialism.
I laughed when I read "the most important company in the world"...what kind of suck up journalism is that!? Certainly not unbiased reporting. Apple is being set up for a massive failure in the marketplace.
It seems to me that it's pretty accurate journalism, although it doesn't take Woodward & Bernstein to discover that Apple (AAPL) has the largest market cap of any company in the world at $535 billion (40% larger than 2nd place ExxonMobil (XOM) at $383 billion). On the basis of that alone, Apple is the most important company in the world.
I agree completely. I will not buy or use Apple products partly because of these issues. And the fact their devices are overpriced compared to competing products in the market that work just as well, whether Windows 7 phones or Androids.
And? Continue that then. Don't be pissed at Apple. Seems to me you just can't afford the product. You seem very bitter. If you think Android is better then be happy with it. Don't whine like a baby.
We decided a decade ago there were things Apple could do best and that there were other things that somebody else can do as well or better. Manufacturing was one of those. I think that’s still true.
So you give up on America and set up shop overseas?
Ever wonder how it is that China has the money to pay for new infrastructure while America crumbles? Thank people like Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. Thank companies like Apple for moving jobs overseas. Americans without jobs cannot contribute to tax revenues, and, with lower tax revenues comes less money to build and repair roads, etc. By moving jobs overseas companies like Apple undermine America while giving China the cash it needs to modernize their own military. Great job!
Some people want to work a lot. They want to move and work for a year or two and then move back to their village and bring back as much money as they can.
Oh, God, I stopped reading at this nonsense.
It might as well have said:
Who needs ventilation shafts, elevators, and safety equipment? If people are willing to do the job then we don't need pesky regulations like OSHA or wage laws to interfere with our right to exploit workers.
The only reason why Apple is hugely profitable now is the use of slave labor in a country with a literally limitless labor pool...i.e. a company that is supposed to have represent the moral high ground is in reality one of the worst slave labor benefactors ever to have existed in human history.
The company disgusts me thoroughly.
Really, Tim, would it kill you to pay your workers fair wages, or, better yet bring jobs back to America? Or is the value of your stock more important?
If you are unwilling to bring the jobs back here (and, at one time, Apple employed tens of thousands of Americans in manufacturing) then perhaps we need to look at passing massive tariffs on your products to even the playing field a bit.
The greatest scam of them all has to be having China produce all of our goods, reap the profits, and then lend the money back to us to pay unemployment benefits and the other costs of social welfare because traitors like Steve Jobs and Tim Cook won't allow Americans to manufacture their own products. And even worse than that is sucking money from the cell phone companies to pay for your products. Win-win for Apple but lose-lose for America.
If China is so great then leave Cupertino and move to Shanghai. Don't let the door slam you on your way out you un-American jerk.
You seem to think Apple is the only tech company that outsources. You might as well give up all your technology then. The very computer you are typing from has parts made in China, etc. So get off your high rocker. I don't know if you are really that dumb or you are just naive.
Apple has made a huge mistake in not going 4G. The speed is 5-10x faster than 3G, which is an extremely tempting metric for anyone who has a smart phone. When people switch to Android will they return to the iPhone? You can argue that it is a wash but that still is a loss to Apple. A friend was pulled in by 4G and had all sorts of issues setting up her new Android on her Mac. She called Apple and their first responses suggested the problem was with her phone instead of the intersection with Mac. They need to make their software friendly to everyone, not just the iPhone or they will self-segregate themselves out of a large market.
4G and even 4G LTE coverages are still lacking. If you can get it fine. But to say they should waste their time with it with the carriers dragging their feet is beyond ridiculous. What good is a 4G or LTE capable phone if you can't get it? Answer is none.
^^you mad bro? It is simply to hard, risky, and expensive to do what Apple did in America. The laws, unions, and people's unwillingness to work in this country have added up to the unaffordable, low quality, manufacturing company that we are today.
Minimum wage is currently too high and we still can't get people off their behinds to do a little bit of work. The Chinese have the same mindset the United States had in the 1950s. Americans feel threatened by that and they should.
Don't blame Steve Jobs and Tim Cook. They are/were doing what all the greats before them did. Do you think Rocketfeller wouldn't have used resources from another country if they were available and a cheaper option? What about Henry Ford?
Times have changed. The world has gotten smaller. Americans need adjust to compete, not blame politicians and business leaders. For them its like holding up a heavy man trying to fall.
Explaining why Apple outsources much of its manufacturing to China
“We decided a decade ago there were things Apple could do best and that there were other things that somebody else can do as well or better. Manufacturing was one of those. I think that’s still true.”
Don't worry Tim Cook, I will forecast your companie's future. 10 years from now your company will be bankrupt and the chinese will buy out your company and put a chinese CEO because like you said. Chinese is the better business leader.
TIM COOK IS A 1# (number one) douchebag !!!!!
10 years from now you will be wishing you invested in apple stock just like you wish you invested in it 3 years ago. They are sitting on over a billion dollars and you think they are going broke. Wow this guy
There is no argument. Apple is NOT the most important company in the world. They make some great products, but they could shut down tomorrow and besides employees and fanboys, we'd all be fine.
I can't comment on the rest of the article because I stopped reading after the opening nonsense, "As the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook runs arguably the most important company in the world."
The deal Jobs made to make his products irresistible meant he was required to put a tiny piece of his new residence in every product. I think that's why some of them get a little hot.

Apple hit on one great idea for touch interface and has bled that idea dry through yearly iterations of the same devices with slightly more power and marketing gimmicks like a display that has twice the pixel resolution of a 60+" HDTV on a 9" screen that doesn't look any different than the previous iteration. They'd better find another trick for that pony pretty soon before it gets too stale for the fickle types that buy into this type of thing.
