Social networks...

I've said it before but I'm going to say it again, any new social network is only as good as it's community. Make the very best app on the whole planet but don't grow a following and it won't matter. What matters for social apps is that the people you know are there and with other more established apps out there you're really going to have to blow other apps out of the water to gain market share.
Flickr and Facebook allow for video uploads. Everyone is on these services already. So what sets Viddy apart? Filters. Yes filters similar to instagram or hipstamatic. That's good of course, but enough to get everyone to migrate to a new service? Doubtful.
I suspect Viddy would stand a better chance if it simply made a rockin' video filter and determined if the community would grow from there, rather than requiring you be a part of the community to use the filters. Yes, like so many other apps I don't like, this one requires me to register before I can really play with it. Thanks, but with no one I know currently using Viddy (that I know of) I'm just not interested. If I want to "share" I want to actually do it with people I know.
