that I will ever actually use this app but it's still pretty amazing. Have a UPC code and want to know a price? Scan the item and almost instantly you'll be told what the item is and given some basic prices for the item.
Again, why this is useful I'm not sure. I suppose you can see if the price you're looking at is fair, but one way or the other, the technology is pretty amazing. And the app is free, so why not?
This is a cool bar-scanner that looks up the barcode you just scanned in and automatically searches online for prices. A great price checking tool if you can get your hands on the product. And the added bonus is you get to feel a bit like a spy!
Love RedLaser. Scan a barcode and see if there are any other retailers (nearby or online) that are offering for less. Have already used a handful of times and made much more educated purchasing decisions. Haven't run across a barcode it hasn't known yet!
Take this handy app and direct it at the barcode of an item you wish to purchase. The app scans the code and gives you a list of retailers and prices for the item. Go direct to the site and get the best price. Simple and awesome.
You're in the store, shopping for something, and then you wonder... is this the best price? Is there somewhere nearby I can get it cheaper? You whip our your iPhone, light up RedLaser, and point the camera at the barcode on the box. CLICK. It tells you prices for the same price in nearby stores. One minor complaint: about 20% of the time, it says it doesn't know what that thing is... but on the plus side, it let's you submit a photo of the thing along with a description so they can update their database. Overall, I like it and think you will, too.
This app has saved me so much money---by driving even 2 minutes away, I've saved a significant amount of money, thanks to this app telling me where the cheapest price is!
There are two major issues with this app.
The first is that the camera on the iphone is like a peephole rather than a camera and it can be difficult to capture the bar code. The second is that some products do not return any search results.
However, I use the app and have found it productive on a number of occasions - most recently during an outlet shopping experience. It can save you money and stave off impulse purchasing. To me that's worth the purchase price even if it works half the time.
I haven't used this much, but it's a cool technology demonstrator for sure, and helps in making good decisions on purchases.
I love Redlaser and what it portends for me in terms of saving money on purchases. My problem is that I have a very shaky hand due to a congenital defect and I can barely ever get the iPhone to read the UPC code because of the tremor in my hand. My children do it for me and that is when I see the power of this app!

This is, of course, based on the 10 products I use most. I tried to search the various products several times (I believe at least 5x) after I've scanned them---results were inconsistent. First search, 2 showed up, 2nd search, none showed up, 3rd search 2 showed up, 4th search 0 showed up, 5th search 4 showed up. WTF?!?
Search done within 1 min...
On top of this, prices were different various searched sites.
To me, this is what I call "reliably inconsistent."
