My favorite app is 'Outdoor Fun Fun'. The kids spend hours networking with other children and you don't even need a data connection to use it!

GREAT ANSWER!! Anyone who thinks that putting a microwave emitting phone up to an undeveloped child's skull is a moron! We adults can choose if we want to slow cook our brains, children can't!

My 3yo likes Super Why and Fruit Ninja. There are a lot of FREE educational ones out there for those times when you do need to keep them occupied and sitting still - you can't carry the toybox with you everywhere you go, but an iPod is pretty handy.

As far as i can remember, no one has ever carried a toybox with them. Kids don't always need some THING to keep them occupied. They sometimes need to learn to sit still just to sit still. Also, if a kid always has some THING given to them to play with, when will he/she learn to use their imagination and play with what they've got? Little kids get creative with what is on their person and their world becomes wondrous and imaginative, if left with nothing but what is on their person. Example: their hands can learn to make 2 turtles (on each hand - 4 fingers down, 1 sticking out for the head) and have lots of conversations and play between the 2 "homemade" turtles. How about finger songs? Where is thumbkin? or itsy bitsy spider? or a pretend "pinching bug" (not to pinch people-just in the air) to work on their pinching grasp which they will need by preschool? Not picking, just saying some things I don't see kids do anymore and how they have a tough time when they get to preschool/school.

My almost 2yo loved Tozzle. She amazes me in how well she puts the puzzles together :)

Sounds great! But how much opportunity does she get to put real puzzle pieces together. Keep in mind that when kids start school/preschool, they need that pinching motor skill that they get from grasping actual objects every day so they can use a pencil, crayons, scissors and lots of other things. If they don't have that motor skill and muscle strength built up between their thumb and index finger, they'll be behind to start with. Everything in moderation.

This website www.shitmykidsruined.com
must be VERY popular with parents who choose to use these apps and hand over their pricey smartphones and touch screen devices to toddlers. For christ's sake, buy your kid a Leapster or something, and keep your iPhone in safe hands!

The best apps for babies and toddlers is none. I mean, do people really need to be getting their children addicted to electronics so young? And then people wonder why there is such an epidemic of childhood obesity. It's because parents let their kids sit in front of electronics all day instead of making them go outside and play.

My goodness! Turn off the boob tube and computers! Take your child outside and ENGAGE them. A rat knows how to memorize. This so called 'learning' from apps is a joke! Your child may memorize and regurgitate the ABC's and 123's, but does he know how to play????
