I’m not going to lie to you, I’m not the biggest Starbucks fan. I don’t love their coffee and would easily opt for a local place most of the time. That said, there are plenty of places where Starbucks is the best thing around. And for that reason I’ll give this app 4 bars.
I got this app while driving from Portland back to my hometown of Seattle on Thanksgiving, and right here you probably get why this app is so good. I’m not going to find that one local coffee shop that’s open on a major holiday in a town I don’t know, but with this app I can still find some coffee, and when making the long holiday haul that‘s worth it‘s weight in gold. And even better I can also find out the nutritional information on that piece of coffee cake I just got, or better yet, figure out what I want to eat based on nutritional information before I get something. Of course you can also find out about any drink Starbucks has, and like their website, you can customize that drink’s nutritional information to match what you really ordered. So if you got a tall, single shot mocha with nonfat milk and whipped cream you can actually get a fairly accurate read on what you just consumed (so no cheating with that whip!). The disclaimer states that the nutrition information may not reflect your customizations but thus far it seems to track that vanilla syrup and nonfat milk (and whip, and even chocolate sprinkles) pretty well. I’d guess you wouldn’t want to bet your caloric life on this information, but it’s certainly closer then I’d guess.
So while this app won’t make me love Starbucks coffee it will keep me happy when I’m in a place I don’t know, or just needing that one little bit of vanilla cappuccino love before I see the relatives again.
