Missing the appeal for shoppers

I was shopping in JCP this week during all the pre-xmas madness, in my wandering around I found a pair of pants but couldn't find the right size. Being the techie that I am I decided to look for an app so perhaps I could order those pants online or see if there was a discount. This app DOES NOT do that. From what I could tell it only really shows weekly specials, but you can't do anything with those specials other than add that item to your favorites (which only lives in the app). I don't get it. Although I'm not a fan of email I'd say signing up for JCP weekly deals emails makes more sense than getting the app. Maybe I'm missing the appeal.

Eh.... try again, JCP

The best I can say is it's ok. Nice first try. Handles more like a concept draft than an app released in the wild. Navigation is easy, graphics are clear, and it's decent looking. But, as Gertrude Stein said, "There's no there there." It's the same as holding a paper weekly flier from JC Penney, but on your iPad. You can't buy anything, there are no details, and so you're left wondering what was the point of the app? I like JC Penney, but wish they had thought this category through before releasing such a ho-hum app. Maybe future upgrades will improve the concept. For now, it's mostly a yawn.

Smart move! In this ever-advancing technological society, making the switch and letting those of us who have never had a subscription to a paper get the same deals is brilliant. Thanks JCP for taking the right step forward.
