iPhone and iPad App User Reviews

Not as captivating as I expected

I'm not a big gamer, but had read so much about this particular app that I gave it a whirl. It was mildly engrossing, but at a base addictive level can't compete with something like Plants Vs Zombies, FlightControl etc, but what was more annoying was the quite aggressive implementation of pay as you go. Pay for this pay for that -- it is obviously a very successful platform but think, especially for novices, a bit more could be thrown out for free. Also found, when you did pay for more tunes, the download was often far from seamless.

Does a fabulous job of bringing the Facebook website to the iPhone. Fantastic usability and ease of use. Would venture is easier to use, with less clutter, than the actual website.

Totally addictive

Name of this app says it all. A very simple yet totally addictive game. Very easy to use and pick up. One gripe is it is difficult to play when laying down!

Could be better

This is basically the HostelWorld website ported to the iPhone. While you can download sections for offline viewing, overall it is a bit of a disappointment, especially when compared to one like HostelHero which added in a lot of value adding. Also found it a little sluggish to use and often had to click repeatedly to get into a detailed preview page. Overall it does the job but could do with some fine tuning and added features.

Hobbled by no background apps

The app is good, but it is totally hobbled by not being able to run it in the background. I primarily use Skype as a chat client so until you can run it in the background I just don't chat on the touch.

Just a gateway to the English paper

This is primarily an interface to the Nation's Thai language papers. To read the English paper you need to download a second app which is (cough cough) subscription based. Go with the Bangkok Post.

Love it. Super easy to use and navigate, fast loading and easy to read. Just what I expected.

Simple to use

Found this app very easy to use, but it is a bit buggy -- I got tossed out a couple of times and the options button gets stuck. On the actual content, seems a bunch of safe bets are covered -- with pics. For a free app this is not bad and probably worth grabbing if you're swinging through Melbourne.

Basic but useful

While still limited in scope, this app has a fair range of phrases but has the advantage of speakovers by both a male and female speaker -- this is quite helpful. Odd transliteration method. Also has the Khmer script for each phrase.

Simple and amusing at times, but basic

This app contains a base selection of phrases and useful terms accompanied by a conversational 15 minute talkthrough. For the bare basics it is adequate, but there are some obvious oversights (for example "Places to stay" doesn't have the word for hotel or guesthouse and the food section doesn't have voiceovers). That said the app is free, so grab it and you'll be able to count in no time and you'll also have some useful phrases like explaining the drugs are not yours!

Missed opportunity

I gave this 1 star not because it doesn't work but rather it is a complete FAIL for a business to tell the end user about them. If you don't have a booking you can't get into the app at all. It would have been far more useful to feed it with fares, specials etc -- even if just a link to "Read our specials here". Bizarre.

Touch sensitivity needs work.

This game was too difficult for my three year old to master and even I found the drag and drop leaf motion quite difficult to manage. It is a simple premise and I asssume a 4-5 year old would find this to be ok but the touch responsiveness/sensitivity needs a bit of work in my opinion.

Excellent for young children

At first glance this struck me as too simple a game for my three year old daughter, but two hours later, when I prized it out of her hands I reassessed my opinion. She also explained how the game worked to my two year old son and he proved to be quite apt at it and found the whole "peekaboo" thing very amusing. A great buy. Recommended.

Manage your Starbucks card via the app

I LOVE this app! It was easy to register my Starbucks giftcard and now I can see the balance of my card at a glance. It even shows the design on my card. You can use your Starbucks Card Mobile app to pay with your iPhone at various Starbucks and Target locations. You can search for participating stores through the app. I can also reload my card's balance via the app. It's so convenient.

Great for coffee n00bs!

Anyone who has been going to Starbucks regularly won't use many of its features (since they probably have their drink menu memorized.) But to a n00b like me, this is great because I'm still discovering the wonderful world of coffee. After launching the app, by default you'll fall on the map so you can find all of the Starbucks in your area. You can also build your own drink, search through all of their coffee blends and even look through the different food options they offer. It's a pretty helpful app that's quick and easy to use.

I love this app

Tumblr's iPhone app makes it easy to update on the fly. I can post pictures, text, images and even videos right from my phone. I also love that I can go through my dashboard and see all the tumblr blogs I'm following. I check Tumblr before my Google Reader, which says a lot about this app's usability!
