iPhone and iPad App User Reviews

Simple... but hard!

I like it... it's a very simple game... with minimal graphics... and perhaps it's too short.... but some levels are very hard and nice... and after every game i want to play again to increase my score.... Nice.

I am a Hollywood star!

I have downloaded 4 different photo editing apps to my IPhone, but this one is my favorite. FX PS has a lot of different options, offers a big space for creativity, and in the same time it’s not difficult to use. Actually it’s very fun.
What I liked most of all, is a variety of effects. Some of them are beautiful, other – very funny. I really enjoyed making a picture of me in Avatar-style, Twilight-style, Predator Vision-style, Sparta-style etc.

Oldschool greatness

This game takes you back to 1980s, when we played handheld LCD devices. The graphics and sounds really catches the feel of those handheld devices. It also has pretty hardcore gameplay, easy in the beggining and hard to master. The monkey have many different behaviour. Definetely this one is not some "let's make this quickly and take some money". There is also Game Center integration with leaderboard and some interesting and smart achievements, couple of them are also very hard. All in all this one is above average and worth $1.99. However there should be some sale soon, so this game would reach even more people.

Salute this, Yoga, you bastard.

I'll never learn.

Yoga pisses me off like nothing else. Every time I try it - and I've tried it several times, on my own and with some fantastic teachers - I become infuriated, frustrated, impatient and even self-hating.

I'm not kidding.

Yoga brings out all my feelings of inadequacy, my lack of self-confidence and infuses me with self-doubt.

How does it do all that? By being too damn complicated for someone like me, who's never enjoyed moving my body around and who's never been good at it when she tried.

Today I opened up Stimulus - smart Yoga trainer because I'd promised to review it for the developer. I spent some time with it first and thought it was gorgeous.

The layout, the colours, the sounds, they all appeal to me. It's got an option to add music from the built-in iPod on my iPhone and if I decide to use only the music included with the app I can make my own playlist out of it. Brilliant!

There are almost 100 Asanas (body positions) included in the app and they are wonderfully illustrated and described. Some of them are awesome simple - Eye Training, for example - and I should probably stick to those for about a decade, but some of them have a dozen steps (it was the Sun Salutation that made me nuts, actually) and so are difficult to learn while holding an iPhone.

For a less random experience, tap on the Sessions button and select the Basic session at the top of the list. It's the only session you'll get without upgrading the app but it offers a series of poses that will last 30 minutes, providing you're already familiar and comfortable with the Asanas within.

Me, I should have known what was coming when I started having doubts that I was doing the Corpse Asana properly. That's right: I even feel inadequate pretending to be dead.

For normal people, however, I happen to think this app is fantastic. I even think it's worth the 99-cent upgrade to pro. Believe it or not, I'm going to upgrade, once I get past my fury, that is.

Yep, I'm a sucker for punishment.

Handy for a tech services guy. It looks pretty slick in front of clients, making you look like you really know what you're doing. Also, I'm happy to support a local software company. Winnipeg's on the map!

Must-Have-App: Real Thermometer!

  • App review for Thermos

Hey guys,
this is my very first review on appolicious. Usually I tend to read your reviews but today I'm going to test Thermos - since I won one of their Promocodes yesterday.

First of all I have to say that this app is simply astonishing. I can't image how this thing works but it definitely does.

But lets start from the beginning:
The app costs $ 1.99 and is available for Apple devices with iOS 4.1 or higher. Your device should - however - provide a camera aswell, since Thermos claims to measure the temperature without "any extern information such as GPS- or weather-data from the interent", but with the Apple iPhone's camera.
So to say: You measure the temperature on your own.
"Where- and whenever you want." - So they say.

When I started Thermos the very first time I had to set two calibration points. Therefore I took a usual thermometer and set one calibration point at my living room (~ 66°F). The other one was set outside on my veranda (~ 45°F).

After the calibration was done I tried to measure the temperature the very first time in my bedroom. 60.4 °F, perfect!
In the kitchen: 67.2°F, nice! On my veranda: 43.7°F, amazing...
To say it shortly: Measuring the temperature works perfectly fine.

But there are two - in my opinion - little drawbacks:
Firstly you have to cover the lens of your device during the measuring procedures. Secondly those procedures may take up to ~40 seconds I'd say.

All in all this app is an app which needs to be called "must-have-app" - at least if you "must have" something to measure the temperature. Therefore: 5 bars.

Tested with iPhone 3G.
I'm sorry if my English didn't suit you :D

Greez,
Peter

Big Words

I love this game and mostly play it on my iPhone but like it on my iPad sometimes. I wish it did a better job of syncing my games. If I pick it up to play I have to wait for it to update and catch up to where I am on the iPhone since I last opened the app. I have to go through all the message pop ups again and it marks chat messages as unread that are read on the iPhone. If you play a lot and tend to have 15-20 games going like I do this can get annoying. The fact that it syncs my games at all is a bonus though since I have found that many iPhone/iPad games don't at all.

Great!

I have to admit, I'm likely the worst person to review this app. The app is specifically aimed at autistic children and while I've written a list about apps for autistic children here it was based on an article I'd read. I don't have any kids at all so all I can say is that the app definitely works.

Basically you set this up to allow turns of a certain length, or if you wish the app can decide the length for you. The display is simply a hand pointing in the direction of the person taking a turn so very clear for everyone.

This app has great reviews from people who work with autistic kids so definitely give it a try.

This is exactly what I've been asking for: a way to post my own voice to Facebook, to post me talking online -- which I'm way better at that writing. Who doesn't know how to talk?

Even better, my friends in the Army are saying this will be a great way to exchange messages with family -- and keep messages forever, to listen to whenever you're online.
Thanks for this APP!

AWESOME!

Love it, love it , love it. TinyVox is so easy to use. I like to use it to send and share recordings of my 18-month-old daughter babbling or singing. There's buttons that allow you to post recordings easily on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr so you can share instantaneously! If you can work an old-school tape recorder, you can use TinyVox. Best part: No batteries needed!

Truly worth it

After enjoying the hardcopy, this app catches all the attention of kids and they read it all the time many many times. They love it!! I don't have to ask them to read, they do it by themselves.

I had a chance to read both volumes of the book on hardcopy and the application really compliments them. The narrations is wonderfully done!

Good but Scary.

I really love the idea of this app and site but frankly, I'm just too scared. I'd like to say for the record right now that I'm not a terribly paranoid person when it comes to online banking... it's basically all I use to pay bills and the like if at all possible. And indeed I just had my credit card info stolen but as is typical, it was stolen from a real life use (and likely through poor security at the merchant) and not online use or online banking.

All that said, this app scares me. Why? Because EVERY card, bank and every other bit of financial info is all in one place. And what's worse, apparently in one place with no password protection on your phone. That seems bad, really really bad.

There doesn't appear to be a lot of reports about this app or site being hacked and indeed with the backend of Intuit it is hopefully secure, but still, the TOS states that you basically can't do anything if they mess up and somehow release your info.

If at some point this app gets 5 stars for security I'll be all over it, but until that time comes I'll take a pass.

Save Planet Earth Eco Boy

The story is well written and has wonderful rhymes that will ensure kids will remember the mainc concepts and help them change their behavior and commitment toward the environment.

About time for such a hero!

The book is great and delivers the message easily to children. I've always wanted to explain the message to my kids but I wasn't able to. The book did the job for me. The "READ-TO-ME" feature is wonderful for younger kids. It was truly worth it!
