Games App User Reviews

Really fun

I don't usually like driving simulators because I find driving a real car more intuitive than a simulator. This game however breaks the rule. After playing this game for several hours yesterday and for a few minutes today I certify that it's great fun.

I di have all the easiest settings for the game but that's only because having not spent the past 600hrs playing iphone games my reflexes are not quite as good as those I would have had as a child.

I look forward to playing it whenever I have a few minutes free here and there.

Reviews by those who actually use the apps

I would much rather get a review for an app from someone I know rather than a nameless reviewer.
By adding friends who also use appolicious I get reviews by those I respect, believe, and know aren't being paid by the developers of an app!

Aircraft mayhem

I can't praise this app enough.
When there was only 1 airfield it was a great app, but when the update came along with 3 airfields it became so much better!
It is very satisfying having half a dozen or more aircraft on the screen at the same time and getting them all landed safely!

Your favorite letter game

Plays just like scrabble but over the iphone with a friend or random opponent. You get notified via IM when it's your turn. There's also a "pass and play" option which allows you to and a friend to play using the same iphone.

Only negative is a full-screen ad after you "submit" your turn. Wait for the menu button to appear, click out, wait for your opponent to respond or go about your business and check for their response when YOU have time.

The Game I Show People

  • App review for Doodle Jump

I first downloaded Doodle Jump because I thought the idea of using a hole in graph paper as a game element was cute. Since then, DJ has become the game I play the most, and the app I am most likely to show someone when showing them my iPhone.

The game is incredibly easy to start playing, but truly challenging to master. Sometimes I play this game in a serious session, but mostly I just play a couple of quick games here and there. I consider it one of my better buys in the App Store.

So many apps, so little time

... how do I choose?

Well, to help make that choice, Appolicious the app has entered the scene. A worthy mobile contender for the website of the same name, Appolicious aims to help the app-challenged mingle with the app-saavy, getting real user recommendations. Users can share their app libraries, rate & write review of their favorite & not-so-favorite apps, and follow one another to discover what their friends use. My only beef with the app is the poorly-designed review interface. It's not conducive to writing anything lengthy. Having to scroll around in the small window to edit your review is a bit of a pain.

Other than that, that Advisor is very informative, spotlighting the app of the day.

Bejeweled Is For Everyone

Honestly this app is for everyone, but I find I use it most when I have time to kill on the train, before/after a class or meeting, even waiting in line or in the doctor's office. It's also very addictive. I like that the game picks up where you left off when you close the app. I know many people don't like spending money on an app, but I think this time killer is worth it.

Its simplicity is its strength

  • App review for Flight Control

The iPhone is a great platform for little time-wasters like this. This game is simple -- drag planes toward their respective runways while avoiding collisions. Yet it gets challenging very quickly.

However, the game's simplicity may also be its biggest weakness. There are other simple, quick-play games on the App Store that don't grow stale quite as quickly. Once you've spent a few hours playing this very addictive game, you may find its appeal wears off.

Still, this is one of the most popular games to have ever hit the App Store, and with good reason. It's well worth the money, and fans of action-puzzlers shouldn't let this one slip by.

Just as fun as the PC version

Bookworm for the iPhone is just as much fun as the PC version. If you're into word-based puzzle games, don't miss this one. Well worth the price.

Very catchy

I think this is more fun than Crayon Physics, but it feels similar. Like crayon physics, you have to deal with gravity and puzzles, but you are a little more constrained. I actually like the constraint as it gives me some idea what to do.

The game play is simple, but fun. There are many ways to solve most of the puzzles, so it doesn't get boring even after completing a level.

I fight with my 12-year-old to play Ragdoll Blaster

This is one of those apps my son asked me to buy because he'd played it on his buddy's iPhone and was hooked, and it's one of those rare games I don't mind him playing.

It requires the actual use of one's brain. Graphics are simple, but then they don't require anything complicated. The complications come in the puzzle itself, figuring out just exactly how to aim and how fast to fire the ragdoll that will hit the bullseye.

And I love the way the ragdolls flop.

It's kept my kid quiet and entertained more times than I can tell you.

Way too addictive

This game seems so simple, until I get stuck. The concept is really easy. All you have to do is to hit a star with a ball. How you do that is up to you. You can drop shapes which fall from the sky (obeying the laws of gravity) and build shapes that pivot around a point. Using those tools, you have to coax the ball over obstacles, around holes and across the screen. The description doesn't do the app justice. Check out the videos to get the idea.

The best part of the app is that there are so many different ways to solve the same problem.

Title says it all...

Insanely addicting. I've spent too much time on this little gem. Something about the very short play time per game that makes it easy to try "Just one more game". I also like the list of name on the right of competitors previous efforts.

Wurdle isn't particularly sophisticated, but it's really, really fun. Perfect for killing time while commuting, or waiting for the plane, or so on. A real pleasure.

ScrabBoggleRisk anyone?

Love me some word games. This one combines elements from other classic board games in a fun new way. Fans of Scrabble, Boggle, or Risk will probably enjoy this one. Fans of all three games will surely love it.

Had fun for a while

I really enjoyed this app for a while. Not sure if there was an upgrade, but I just stopped playing after a little time.... maybe it needed a new scene or a new gun.

Fun Casual Game

I really enjoy this game, it has an addictive quality that has kept me coming back for more.

In the game you match 3 "things" to upgrade it to 1 "higher level thing". With you randomly getting "things" to drop on the board you have to be careful of where you place the next thing. That is the main premise of the game which makes it a fun and addictive puzzle game. On top of that you have bears dropped in which move around and get in your way, though matching 3 of these (cornering them together) makes a good "thing" again. It may sound a little complicated but after playing it for a couple minutes you'll get the idea fast!

I think I'll play another game of Triple Town now....
