iPhone and iPad App User Reviews

Excellent app for the hostel booker

  • App review for Hostel Hero

If you're a frequent traveller and aim for hostel-style accommodation, this app is close to essential. Considerably better than HostelWorld's own app, this demonstrates creativity and a good knowledge on what a traveller really needs.

Delghtful

Terrific interface and extremely easy to use. I send a lot more postcards than I use to. An easy five stars.

This interfaces with the popular Applyser site for monitoring app sales. Graphing is clear and easy to understand.

Very easy to use, quite quick loading (though expect the occasional timeout if you don't have a strong signal). Supports multiple accounts and very easy to digest layout and UI. Highly recommended.

Does what it says it will

This is a simple application that does exactly what it says it does. If only other apps could manage that!

Very confusing UI

At first glance, this looks like a very promising app and I think over time it will develop into one, but at the moment the user interface is very confusing and poorly labled. The mapping is good (uses OpenStreetMaps rather than Google) and I like the sepia explorers map look of the app. One particular gripe is when you go to add another waypoint your super zoomed in needing a lot of zooming out to get to a level where you can easily pick the next town (unless of course you're recording a trip from home to the corner store).

Shows promise but not quite there yet.

Very addictive

Downloaded this on a whim and lost a couple of days as a result. Very easy to pick up, gets progressively more difficult at about the right pace and at times is quite humorous. An easy five stars.

Not bad, but some scope for improvement

  • App review for Little Red

  • Recommended for Book Readers or Parents

My three year old got totally engrossed in using this, but after watching her use it for a bit, the following could be improved.

a) The "home" button at top right is too small and difficult for her to action and the section headers on the front page (read myself, be read to, colour in) could be far more obvious.
b) The swish motion is not responsive enough -- it requires a little too mush pressure to action, often resulting in the book jumping multiple pages.
c) More colours in the colouring in would be good.

I guess with a slightly older child these wouldn't be an issue -- my daughter loves it, but would be even better if I didn't need to restart it for her every time!

Flight the Blight With Tadpole Might

You're an adorable tadpole, fighting to keep the blight from Shady Glen by chomping drops of water, mushrooms, carbon and oil. Escape from blight by tilting, causing your tadpole to leap from side to side. XEOPlay is a leader in the emotions of games, and it shows in the attention to detail such as blinking tadpole eyes and lovingly-crafted background art that put you in a blissful state and make you just fall in love with your little tadpole and feel right at home in Shady Glen.

Is There a Way to Make This Background Music?

So, I am thinking there must be a way to use another app and hear my eclectic Pandora station in the background? Or am I running into the iPad's limits here? It's frustrating, because while I love my personal station and the QuickMix of songs from Pandora, I am really used to using Pandora on the web as background music while I do other work.

Those Neon Stars You Stick to Your Ceiling Are Now Obsolete

To lie in bed, hold the iPad above your head, and follow the stars in the night sky while a cosmic soundtrack plays IS magical. The constellations are marked and major celestial bodies named. I have this on the iPhone, and it's useful and educational there as well, but not magic like on the iPad where it truly becomes your own personal planetarium. The only complaint I have is that the opening screen which displays info on when planets rise and set in your area would be better as something to pull up later, since the stars are what really draw you into this app.

First iPad App I Tried

Fun fun fun. Choose regular piano, church organ, synthesizer, etc. You can set different background tracks. Can have single or double keyboards. Lots to explore.

Crappy Name - Good Game (v1.6.1)

So okay, the game's title is terrible, but look beyond that and you'll find a pretty good dungeon crawl type game. It's a bit short (4-5 hours of gameplay) and a bit easy (you'll never die with potions), but fun nonetheless. In terms of gameplay, think "Torchlight" set on easy, with less buttons of course.

Every area is like a loot pinata, there are tons of items. One nice element is that once you've completed the story you can still go back to any area and PWN face.

Don't expect an immersive RPG experience; it's more of a hack n' slash with fairly linear gameplay and RPG elements. If you like grinding you should probably look elsewhere. But, if you're looking for some quick RPG-style action with impressive graphics give it a try.

Very helpful for navigating through the hundreds of acts and workshops.

A totally useless app. Evernote does this, and more, for free.

Kill Zombies

Aftermath is a creative top-down shooter with one goal in mind; survive the onslaught of zombies. For some reason, killing zombies never gets old and this game is no exception. Check out my full review on AppVee.com!

Eliminate is one of the best shooters out there and now you can play online with a friend. The new co-op gameplay mode is called "extermination." Check out my full review on AppVee.com!
