News Junkie

I have a dirty little secret: My gossip loving fingers haven’t touched the glossy print of a tabloid magazine since I picked up my first iPhone. With a plethora of celebrity gossip-focused apps in the iTunes App Store, there is no reason to shell out $5 for a print magazine that becomes dated as fast as you can say “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”

Granted, the mugs of Angelina Jolie and her multicultural tribe bear down on me as I check out at the grocery store every Sunday, but I happily resist the urge to indulge by knowing my iPhone can bring me the same guilty pleasure of stalking my favorite celebrities.

You too can become an amateur celebrity stalker by downloading these free celebrity gossip and news apps for your iPhone.

Off the beaten path

The free PopEater iPhone app dishes up the latest celebrity headlines and breaking news. View the top photos and videos of the day, and even share with your friends on Twitter and Facebook directly from this app. See something you like? No problem -- save content for offline reading.

The free Velvet Hot Tub iPhone app, a gossip newsroom powered by VHT.com, let’s you view all the best news from celebrity gossip blogs in one convenient app. View by "hottest," "freshest," "last 24 hours," "last week" and "last month" blog feeds.

Want all the latest celebrity gossip from your favorite TV shows, Internet sources, magazines and newspapers? Then download the free Gossip Grub app, which quickly connects you to all the latest gossip from all your favorite media sources.

Straight to the source

If you just can’t give up your tabloid magazines, then check out the free Star Mobile iPhone app, designed specifically for readers of Star magazine. Not only does it include the latest pop culture news and hot celebrity photos, but it’s also an app community designed to let fans share information and opinions.

If you are an avid fan of the TMZ TV show, you know these gossip hounds have a clever way of putting a funny spin on even the most boring celebrity sighting. Keep up with all their latest crazy headlines with the free TMZ app.

The free Huffington Post iPhone app is perfect for keeping up with world events, as well as your favorite celebrity gossip. It’s the one place that Lindsay Lohan and Barack Obama exist in a cohesive world, making this news app an ideal option for members of the legislature who have a penchant for reading celebrity gossip.
