Almost Perfect

Easy to use. You just type in the name of your favorite musical artist and it creates a 'station' for that artist, then starts streaming their music mixed in with 'similar' (as defined by their algorithm) music. Works pretty great for the most part. The FREE version has popup ads which cover most of the screen and obscure the good stuff, but, that's how they pay the bills. It has a few quirks, like if you let it stream long enough, it runs out of similar music to play, so, it starts feeding you random songs by other artists that you have in your music library, even if they are not similar to the artist on the selected station. Also, forcing you to select an artist is restrictive... I'd like to be able to pick a genre - say 'Classical Guitar' or 'a capella' or 'Bossa Nova' and get all artists in that genre. Really good, but not quite perfect.

After upgrading...

After I upgraded, I started to fall in love with Pandora. I hated the commercials before, but now I use it all the time. Completely recommend it. Also, there's no forced login to Facebook, which I love... I hate when spotify did that.

Customize music to your mood

I use this app all the time! Depending on my moods I pick a song I like and then create a station that will play similar styles of music. I also like discovering new artists and bookmarking them so I can find them in the future. The ability to like or dislike a song also gives me more control in customizing a station. Because this app is free, there are a lot of commercials you can't skip.

Pandora is the best!

Pandora Radio has to be one of my favorite apps! I always have a hard time picking out which songs I want to listen to when I work out and with Pandora Radio all I have to do is select a radio station and Pandora picks the best songs! I use it all the time and some of the stations barely have any commercials which is a HUGE plus!

Stick to the List

I like this application but it plays more bands than I want it to when I create a list for playing. For instance, when I create a list for Van Halen, I don't want Def Leppard mixed in with it. Why does it insist on doing this? Perhaps there's a setting I need to tweak, but I have yet to find it. Cool app but it needs to refinement and should allow the user complete control over what they hear.

Random Radio

Here's the deal. Pandora was great when it was really the only option for streaming music for free. Now, we have Spotify and MOG, among others. I personally don't see the point of signing up for a radio service like Pandora these days, since it's random and often I could care less about similar artists. Well, artists that Pandora's recommendation doohickey thinks are similar...

I really do love music. I don't love listening to the radio. Solution? Pandora! You can choose a genre, artist, song, anything really, and Pandora will build a 'radio' station around it. You, of course, have artistic license to like or dislike songs to further aid in your personalization of the station. The best part? Only a few annoying commercials...

I love this app. It's one of those apps that once you have it, you can't imagine not having it. I drive for a living, being able to listen to mostly commercial free music is a big plus. I'd have given it 5 bars, but it seems to repeat the same songs a little too much.

Best Music App Ever

Pandora provides an unlimited amount of new music to be heard and it picks songs that are similar to the song, artist, album or genre of your choosing. My favorite feature is that you can like or dislike certain songs and Pandora will remember your preferences and will try and show you either more or less of a certain type of song. It also provides detailed artist biographies.

This is a great app for listening to music that you actually like. Search for an artist you enjoy and viola, it will automatically play song after song that is similar to that artist. Very straight forward and easy to use.

A must download for any music listener.

Better on iPhone Than the Computer

If you don't know anything about Pandora, just get it. Period.
Still there? Ok. It is a streaming music service, backed by occasional ads. The best part is that it is alive! It learns you, based on your choices. And, it gives you music that is more and more suited to you each time and the more you use it.
Now, one station with all of your music is one thing, but you can have multiple stations, and each one with different styles for different moods.
You can use it on the computer, but I have abandoned it for the app. Bookmark songs you like to add to a list you can browse later, and a link to send you right to where you can buy the song or album on itunes. It is great.
Crisp, clear music, with awesome visuals and more information on the bands than I need.

Pandora App Rocks

I love this app even more now that iPhone 4 OS added multi-tasking because I can listen to my Pandora music without interrupting other app use like email and text messaging.

This app is great because it's a seamless extension of the online account - all my stations are available and portable.

Pandora is my favorite app for listening to music on my iPhone. I love how I can select the music I want to listen to and Pandora will play that music as well as introduce new artists in the same genre. Great way to discover new artists while also listening to your favorites. Love this app!

When iPad upgrades to iOS 4 Pandora will finally run in background

I love Pandora, but it's inability to run in the background at present means it takes over my iPad. Blame Apple, this will change this fall!

Rock You Like A Hurricane

I love Pandora. I love that my weird, eclectic taste can be made into a playlist that fits my mood. I love that I can listed to one artist almost exclusively if I want to. And I love that I can do all of this on my phone.

Granted, the fact that multitasking isn't available yet (but soon, very soon) makes this app a little less worthwhile than it could be. That said, I use it at the gym or when I'm not really messing around with my phone so it's not a huge deal. It still would be nice to be able to text someone or check emails.

The app works just like the website from what I've seen so if you like Pandora you'll want this app. And if you have weird music tastes then this app is a must.

Works as Advertised, but

  • Posted by durgadas May 18, 2010

I am not a fan of radio. I don't like a lot of music that is in the genres I listen to and any attempt at generalizing my taste seems to fall flat, with the exception of 80's music when I listened to as much Top 40 junk as anyone. I don't WANT to know all Michael Jackson's music, but I do because of this. So this app is cool from a tech standpoint, and hey, free music, but meh to the styles is forces me into listening and therefore I don't use this app like I'd like to. I have 6000 songs of my own to enjoy...

Pandora

I've been using Pandora on my desktop for years, love having this on my iPhone. Besides the occasional lag & the fact that it will sometimes insist that I really should listen to the same song I've given a thumbs down to repeatedly, I love this app.

Is There a Way to Make This Background Music?

  • Posted by sharakarasic April 03, 2010
  • Recommended for Music Fans

So, I am thinking there must be a way to use another app and hear my eclectic Pandora station in the background? Or am I running into the iPad's limits here? It's frustrating, because while I love my personal station and the QuickMix of songs from Pandora, I am really used to using Pandora on the web as background music while I do other work.

Well, maybe not BEST, but still really good. Could use some improvements, such as being able to play music with the app closed or being able to skip as many songs as you want.
