Pandora in Genres

I didn't think I would stray from Pandora, but there are plenty of other good music apps out there.
OurStage, DI Radio...and now Slacker.
I'm sure most people have heard of it before, but I was always too impressed by Pandora to check it out.
I really like Slacker so far, for me it just works, without all the babysitting. Pandora has its place, but Slacker does too.

Not really a slacker...

This app is just like Pandora but with (apparently) 4 times the music. Not sure how that's possible since Pandora has a TON of music but if it's actually true you may well find that obscure artist you love.

Across the board people like Slacker even better than Pandora. Mostly it seems both to me and to them that this app finds things you like quicker than Pandora.

One way or the other, with Pandora eventually not allowing you to fast forward through things you hate and sometimes closing you up if you spend too much time there having this app to help you get to your music is well worth it for your phone.

Easier to Hear Favorite Tunes

Out of all the radio apps I have, Slacker is my favorite because I am more likely to find exactly the song I am looking for. Like many free apps, including the the popular Pandora, music licensing requires that the station not play your tune on demand, so they play all sorts of songs related to the one you want to hear, perhaps never getting to your preferred tune. Although I appreciate this feature and have discovered new music this way, sometimes I really do want to hear one particular song. Using Slacker, it seems I'm more likely to hear the song I want want within the first 6 songs queued. Maybe it's luck- I don't know.

New Convert To Slacker Radio

As a former Pandora devotee, I'm a new convert to its biggest rival, Slacker Radio. If you like Pandora, you'll love Slacker. It's simple to use and offers (in my unscientific opinion) a better mix of songs on any given station. If you have a Slacker account, you can use it on your phone or access it from the web. Perfect for hardcore music fans, people who wish they had better taste in music (like me), and people who are sick of their tired old "Gym"/"90s"/shuffle playlists and looking for a fresh perspective.

Great Music Discovery

This is a great app for music-lovers looking for new music. So far, my favorite station is the UK Indie because it exposes me to music I haven't heard in the same genre I like the most - rock, pop-punk, alternative, indie, etc. Having this on the go is a great way to find new tunes all the time.

It syncs quickly, and going back and forth between the website and the iPhone app is seamless and aggregates all of your recently played stations.

One of my favorite things about this app is its simplicity. There aren't tons of settings or features so it really is simply about finding and listening to good music.

I'm just scratching the surface, but I'm really looking forward to discovering more world music!
