Well it goes without saying that Epocrates has got to be the single app most commonly found on a physician's iPhone or iPod touch. It provides a comprehensive drug guide with dosing information as well as adverse effects, pregnancy and lactation safety information, etc. and etc. It even has a built in dosing calculator (although it is a just a little harder to use than it needs to be), which is a feature missing in the (not free) LexiComp drug guide apps.

The app even includes pill images and a handy visual pill identifier.

The only draw back to the app (in addition to the already mentioned slightly imperfect drug calculator) is that information on standard packaging is not provided (e.g. how many grams of hydrocortisone 2.5% ointment are in one tube?).

For the money (free!), there is no beating Epocrates.
