Amazing Breaker is a great new destruction game from Dekovir. It uses a slingshot mechanic similar to Angry Birds to launch different kinds of bombs at beautiful painted ice sculptures with the intention to get rid of them entirely.
The game uses a sling shot, like Angry Birds, but it plays more like the classic Bust-A-Move series of the games, with you firing up the screen from the bottom. Every level is rated the same way; one star for the minimum 90 percent destruction, two for 95 percent, and three stars for 100 percent. Even if there is nothing but a barely visible speck of the sculpture left, you will not get three stars. There are four different bombs for you to work with; regular bombs, green bombs which split into smaller bombs if tapped after launch, ghost bombs which can go through the sculpture and even be manipulated after launch by swiping, and finally, helicopter bombs, which fly over the sculptures allowing you to drop up to three bombs at any point by tapping the screen. Figuring out how to use the bombs provided to you in the most destructive way possible is quite the challenge. It’s also really fun when you set up a huge chain of bombs via the splitters and helicopters, only to ignite one little corner and watch the whole sculpture go up in flames. The gameplay is great, and you get 80 levels of it right out of the gate.
The graphics are stunning. The ice sculptures look amazing, and the destruction and cracks that appear seem very real. The effects of the different bombs are also quite the spectacle. The only real gripe I have about this game are the slightly long load times. If you want to get three stars on a level, you can’t afford to make a single mistake, and once you do, you might as well just hit the ‘replay level’ button. Every time you hit it though, you sit through the same load time. Don’t get me wrong though, these are not Duke Nukem Forever load times. They’re definitely tolerable, and will only affect people who constantly strive for perfect rounds. Otherwise, this game is definitely one to check out, especially at only one dollar.
