Coast Defense, available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch, is a strategic war game in the palm of your hand. Players can put the power of tanks, missiles and other military weapons at your fingertips for only 99 cents
The objective of Coast Defense is to defend your bunker from an attacking enemy. Based on how well you defend your bunker, you get cash for purchasing better weapons and increasing the defense of your bunker. Using two fingers, users aim at the target with one and fire with another, allowing quick reaction to enemy advancement.
Coast Defense has great graphics and sounds, but at times the screen can get cluttered. The weapons you get to use are the best part of playing this game. In particular, I liked the bazooka. While it’s not the best war game I’ve ever played, I was impressed by how much action they were able to put into a game playable on your phone. The biggest downside was the controls. While they are intuitive and don’t take much time to figure out, the reaction was sometimes a little slow and it was difficult to hit the targets starting out.
I’m not a big game player, but I liked the simple fun of Coast Defense. Advanced gamers will probably get bored after a few levels of shooting down ships, but if you’re looking for a fun game to take some aggression out on while waiting around, I thought it was worth its price.
