This is Order & Chaos Online. You might think it looks a lot like World of Warcraft for the iPhone. Well, that’s because it is. It’s an unapologetic clone of WoW. Gameloft has taken the massively addicting gameplay and style of that other game and reformatted it for a tiny screen with touch controls. The results are surprisingly awesome!
The game controls are very intuitive and smooth. This is obviously a hugely simplified version of WoW, with fewer attacks and less general information conveyed to the player, but it works nicely. The graphics are great, and in some cases are actually superior to that other game.
Where Order & Chaos lacks, however, is in the technical side of things. People are having lots of issues all across the board: connection issues, account related errors, quests bugging out and becoming impossible to finish, etc. I also had issues with the amount of items you are allowed to carry. It has always been a part of MMORPGs to plan your questing so you can unload your gathered spoils of war to make room for more, but here, I constantly had to run back and forth, and it got old quick. Luckily, there is a helpful quest arrow that guides you on your way from objective to objective. One huge mistake Order & Chaos makes is not including some kind of teleport-to-town item like WoW’s Hearthstone.
Comparisons to Warcraft aside, this game is pretty great all around. It totally feels like the classic MMO, and can give you that quick MMO fix on the go. It’s definitely on the more expensive side as far as apps go, but they throw in the first three months of subscription for free to sweeten the deal. Some of the most important aspects of an MMO have always been the community, support, updates, and endgame content, and this game just hasn’t been around long enough for me to tell you about those. But from my initial experience, I’d definitely say check it out.
