We’re nearing Valentine’s Day, and you know what that means -- another holiday and 15 new levels for Angry Birds Seasons. The update with the new levels is already live and heads up our Fresh Games list for today. There’s also a new version of classic matching game Bust-A-Move, and a racing title that’s all about drifting around curvers: Drift Legends. Get the lowdown on all three below.
Angry Birds Seasons update (iPhone, iPad) $0.99
It’s a whole lot more Angry Birds -- Seasons, an additional game from the original that also costs $0.99 in the App Store, compiles Angry Birds levels that are, as you might expect, seasonal. When the guys at Rovio Mobile create new levels with a winter or Halloween theme, for example, those levels show up in an update to Seasons for free. This month, the update carries new Valentine’s Day themed puzzles.
The new update to Seasons adds 15 Valentine’s levels to the 40 already found in the app. You’ll also get access to new achievements through Game Center, and more Golden Eggs to pursue to unlock a few bonuses.
New Bust-A-Move (iPhone) $4.99
Gamers will remember this classic matching puzzle game -- except New Bust-A-Move is, in fact, new, and features a few cool features that haven’t made it into Bust-A-Move games before. The classic play remains, in which you shoot a bubble from the bottom of the screen toward a group at the top, trying to match them by color to eliminate them. There’s a standard "Endless" mode, which will continually challenge you, and a "Campaign" mode that throws a variety of play styles into the mix.
There are levels in which New Bust-A-Move turns into something of a vertical shooter, requiring speed and accuracy to take out enemies as they advance on you, and you’ll also face Boss levels that will test your abilities. But you have new tools, like the "Jump Shot" ability that allows you to tap the screen to let your bubble dodge obstacles, and other tools at your disposal. All of them will help you rack up a high score to share with other players using Game Center and unlock some of the game’s 55 achievements.
Drift Legends (iPhone) $2.99
This top-down racer is all about high speed and tight turns, testing your ability to drift a car through the hairpin curves of more than 25 different tracks. The tracks are split-up across five different countries, all of which sport different environments that you’ll need to adapt to in order to post the best times through the tracks.
You’ll utilize four different cars during your races, all of which can be upgraded as you earn more points for your runs. Your scores get posted to the game’s international leaderboards, allowing you to see how you stack up against racers from across the planet, and doing particularly well unlocks nine different wallpapers you can set as the background on your phone.
