Today’s Fresh Games include an app that lets you turn the neighborhood burger joint you regularly check into using Foursquare into an occupied territory you must hold and defend to score points. Foursquare becomes foursqWAR -- check it out along with a few others that sound fun.
Lil’ Pirates (iPhone) Free
When you’re not strafing enemy galleons, you’re tasked with hiring pirates with various skillsets to crew your skiff. There’s a ton of customization to be had, with more than 100 items to outfit your crew and ship, and you can even go so far as to bury treasure to increase its value, in between bouts of plundering and sinking other ships.
Trivia Time (iPhone) $0.99
Everybody likes lightning rounds, right? Well, Trivia Time is basically a trivia game lightning round app. You’ve got two minutes to answer as many questions as you can to score points, but you’ll also lose points for every question you mess up, and questions are worth less the more time you spend.
You can also switch off the lightning rounds and play Trivia Time more casually. In that mode, you can play as much as you want without a time limit, and the game also gives you a little factoid to back up each question so you can learn a little something. The questions themselves seem pretty interesting, too.
foursqWAR (iPhone) $0.99
You might already be checking-in with Foursquare to various businesses -- but in foursqWAR, your check-ins allow you to “take over” various properties. The premise isn’t too different from what Foursquare is like already, and is best enjoyed with local friends who also do a lot of checking-in.
As you take over more and more buildings, your military rank increases, and you gain the ability to use different defensive units to help occupy your territories. All of it helps you unlock achievements and beat your friends -- and your check-ins are automatically logged into Foursquare as well, so you can become a general in foursqWAR while becoming a mayor in Foursquare.
