Preschool Adventure is a package of six colorful interactive games that take full advantage of the multimedia capabilities on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Upon launching, the program gives your child a choice of six games based on the concepts of colors, numbers, shapes, body, matching and sounds. Each module features a colorfully rendered drawing of various animals that respond to a touch of the finger.

The number module, for example, is a connect-the-dots game that rewards the child once he or she complete the outline. I also felt like my 5-year old was learning her numbers along the way.

It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the shapes module uses iPhone's multitouch capabilities (where you touch the screen simultaneously in two places). When you touch one shape, it jumps up. But the real fun is when the child figures out that if you touch two shapes simultaneously, they both jump in a more animated fashion.

I liked that each module offers the child a tangible reward for completing each task, whether it be a song, sound sample, or animation. The modules are simple enough to occupy a 2-year old, yet also of interest to 4- and 5-year-olds. The developer of Preschool Adventure, 3DAL, offers other apps in the same vein that are worth a look, including Preschool Arcade and Preschool Music.
