1. MIT Mobile 

You may have heard that data point that the iPhone today contains more computing capabilities than all of MIT a generation ago. Thus its fitting that MIT now has a free iPhone app that includes news and class information as well as a people and staff directory. 

2. Eco Punk - Crazy Environmentalist Shooting Cars to Save the Planet 

Perfect for the passive-aggressive environmentalist, Eco Punk is a 99-cent iPhone app that calls on you to defend your neighborhood against obnoxious polluters. Yes, you blow up vehicles in an effort to save the environment. Don't forget, it's just a game. 

3. Bowtie

Call this the bizarro Remote app. Rather than controlling your Mac or PC with your iPhone, the 99-cent Bowtie app (which requires a free desktop download as well) controls your iPhone from your desktop keyboard. 

4. WireWay 

Borrowing a page from J.R. Tolkien mysticism is this $4.99 iPhone app that challenges you to locate previous energy called "Elan." Enjoy hours of gameplay through 16 different missions. 

5. ScribbleLive 

Whether you are a blogger, journalist, or anyone who wants to publish notes from a remote location worldwive via the web, ScribbleLive is a useful and free iPhone app. Tap into branded blogging tools and plug into Twitter and other social networks.
