January ushered in a new year, new hope and a truckload of new free iPhone apps. Here are a few to get your 2010 off on the right foot…er, app.

On a more serious note, identity theft is constantly becoming a greater issue in our society. There was no shortage of decent, free iPhone games in January. CarnyBallLite by X Forward was updated with more levels. In this skee-ball-like iPhone game, you bowl a bright yellow ball into a stack of bright pink cans. Simple, yes, but fun too. And best of all – free.
Also in the simple-but-fun category, Heads Up: Hold ‘em Lite by Headlight Software was updated. While there are plenty of poker iPhone games available, I found this one clean, straight-forward and enjoyable. The controls are easy to use, and the computer opponent offers a reasonable amount of challenge.
