Mixed Impressions

I'd originally reviewed the DH2 teaser and it looked all good, aside from apparent navigation glitches.
This game has suffered from its ambition. The environments are truly gorgeous; gameplay might have improved a little compared to it's predecessor.
The cut-scenes are laughable - low poly characters look terrible in closeup. The easy way to complete boss battles is to exploit sadly obvious flaws in the character AIs: detection range errors, bosses stuck in the landscape. The level maps look pretty lame and the fairy characters (2D) are at best sketchy.
Surprisingly this rushed-out-of-the-door title is saved by an original, engaging story.
On sale DH2 is a little treat. 2 or 3 months of polishing are missing to justify its regular price.
