Samurai I was a little wonder blooming with style, somehow hindered by original, yet hard to master controls. The most striking in this update is the rotating platforms and other gadgets that animate the scene. It's a real plus. The spikey traps aren't all that original but don't diminish what has become one of the most solid action titles in-store. New particle effects contribute to an augmented visual experience. The other big change is the controls. The new controls are very standard. It's a nice touch that the position of the controls is configurable. Personally I wished the original controls could have been improved - the developer made a conservative / defensive choice in using these new, completely standard controls. So yea, it's easy to use but I still think the premise that motivated the designers to develop original controls for v1 (focused blade game needs 'blade finger action') is still valid. With the unique art style and a lot of know-how, plus lessons learned regarding ergonomics, the devs have gold in their hands. Samurai II is better than it's predecessor. It'll be nice to see what comes next.
