My Favorite Tower Defense Game

Love it. It's classic. It's simple enough, with lots of replay... I've had it for a long time and still pick it up every once in a while to play it. My only complaint would be that it takes a long time to play a game. So it's not something I sit down and play for 5 minutes, I sit down and play for at least 20 minutes if not 30-40.

Sorry, Not Feeling This One

I can understand the popularity of this app... It's certainly addicting and challenging. But it's over-designed and lacking in nuance. Check out geoDefense to see what an elegant, beautifully constructed Tower Defense app looks like. Once you have that as your standard, games like this just look and feel cheap in terms of design, UI and data display.

FieldRunners

This is a brilliant TD defence game, it has kept me occupied for hours. Great graphics and infinite game play. Have fun designing fiendish mazes for your combatants to tackle.

For gamers who like TD's where you need to maze your towers, this is for you.
This has zoom capability and fast forwarding, and has a lot of tower choices.

Raises the bar in TD

Thanks to Appolicious, I downloaded this app as a recommendation. I am a fan of TD, while not a huge fan, certainly big enough to comment on it.

Most TD maps are linear in design. A preset path that you build along side the path to stop the enemy. In this game, it is semi-linear, as there is an entry point and an exit point, and with your units, you provide a path for the enemy to follow. Now you cannot block their path, you have to given them a chance to get to the end, but you decide how hard that will be.

It is a very good game, first game I got to level 79 in the beginning. I will probably do much better as I get good at this game, and test different strategies.

But why 4 stars? As awesome as this game is, it is limited as far as upgrading units, which I believe is 3 times. Also, there are so few units. So as awesome of a game this is, it is limiting. Perhaps there will be an update to include these features, but for now, it is what it is, and I will play it quite often I think.

It kept my persistent attention for some weeks, even with many other TD style games on my device. TD is one of my very favorite genres of game, and this is among the best of them.

Best "Tower Defense" Game

I heard this was the best "tower defense" genre game and I guess I have to agree... I've tried many and like many, but this one rates the highest. Very playable, hard to win, but makes you want to keep trying. Graphics are great and sound effects also.

Highly recommended.

One of the best iPhone games available

Fieldrunners is a "tower defense" game in which you have wave after wave of enemies running across the board; your goal is to eliminate them before they reach the other side.

It sets the standard for TD games on the iPhone. There have been more recent TD releases that perhaps have more unique features, but Fieldrunners manages to keep my attention, whereas the others do not. It's stable, well-balanced, and fun.

It's easy enough for TD beginners, yet it's challenging enough for veterans. It's a great game that's worth every penny.
