jessicadally says: On my desk these is a mug of business cards. I wish I were kidding. While I do have these apps I still just don't use them because the card is what reminds me of who the person is. Still, if you're not like me these apps might be for you.

  1. CardSnap Lite Business Card Scanner
CardSnap Lite Business Card Scanner I wasn’t sure about this app when I first downloaded it and began reading the documentation. Buy an expensive cover with a magnifying lens just to make this app work? Probably not. Turns out despite the warning that you may need this extra thing, I personally haven’t had any issues using just the regular camera and for that I’m glad. For those of you who go to conventions this app is pretty stinking helpful. The idea is pretty simple. Take a picture of a business card, upload it to their servers, wait for maybe up to a day and back comes the business card in contact form on your phone. Thus far it’s been very accurate, even knowing that the “f” in front of a number means it’s a fax number. Smart. And smart because there’s a reviewer (person or computer) who is verifying the data… this means thus far I’ve not got something that looks like the transcription of phone calls you get from google voice. Good, because that’s almost always useless! There are a number of expensive things you can get to read a business card but thus far I see no reason not to simply use this application. I should add that it did a smashing job with my personal mini cards too so even weird formats aren’t an issue. Take the picture so it’s clear, take it in good light and be patient (it won’t come back as a contact right away) and I suspect this app will live up to your expectations with flying colors. The lite version offers you only 6 fields so if you need address information or other things beyond first name, last name, organization, work email, work phone and work fax you’ll need to get the full version.
  2. CardSnap Business Card Scanner
CardSnap Business Card Scanner The bigger version of the lite version listed above. This one will import more fields. Important if you need all the info off of the card.
  3. Business Card Scanner
Business Card Scanner Another choice that is a lot cheaper but it has some issues getting a good picture. Still, give it a go if you're not wanting to shell out for the more expensive apps.
  4. ScanCard - Business Card Scanner(Promo Version)
ScanCard - Business Card Scanner(Promo Version) This app does English and Chinese so if you've got contacts in Chinese this is the app for you. The promo version is of course less than the full version in cost and functionality but it gives you a taste of what you'll get when you pay full price.
