Hey Rachel - good list...here a few quick reactions:
Path - I've tried it, don't get it. I can share pictures in FB groups.
Where the Ladies at - I'm happily married, but I'm with you...this ought to rock at SXSW
Hurricane party - Love these guys (saw them at cap-fac)... as long as they keep workin' it, they'll hit on the model - def. worth a look at Southby for any visitors
SCVNGR - I think my college-age kids will have to show me if this one is really a hit or not...I've tried it can see the potential, but can't quite compute to why it would become a daily indispensible tool
Groups in general: Beluga / Groupme / Appconomy - Beluga is way overhyped from what I've been seeing as I use it. Slow, glitchy, doesn't really add any value that I don't already get in a superior way via Groupme (which I dig for SMS) and FB Groups. And, of course, there's our own precious at Appconomy, which I hope you and all Southby visitors will give a whirl at Southby, after we announce 2 weeks earlier.
Hashable / Instagram - cool apps, but I don't use them.
Heytell - I *love* this little app for its flawless performance and awesome purity. The reason Sprint bought Nextel for a ba-jillion dollars way back when was b/c you couldn't pry the cold dead fingers of Nextel users from their little instant walkie-talkie switches on those phones - which is exactly what HeyTell does for smartphones. I use it all the time to do a quick shout-out to my son in Cleveland, on the weekends or whenever. No, it may not be an ideal app for the AMODA party on opening night, but it's become as essential one on my iPhone.
Look forward to seeing your other app recommendations!
