jenniferbeese says: I'm by no means a triathlete, let alone an athlete! But I enjoy reviewing apps and after some asking around, these are the recommendations I have for any triathlete.
jenniferbeese's picks
  1. Navy SEAL Fitness
Navy SEAL Fitness There is a lot of information packed into this $.99 app. Topics include exercise physiology, determining and training your heart rate, basic workouts, running/swimming for fitness, strength training, anatomical terms and tons more. The only downside is that it doesn't offer a landscape view, which could make reading all that information a bit easier on your eyes.
  2. Fitnio: GPS Exercise Tracker
Fitnio: GPS Exercise Tracker Fitnio uses your GPS to track bike rides, runs and walks. It tells you how long you've been moving, speed at which you're moving, distance traveled, calories burned, and offers a cool-down timer.
  3. Eight Glasses a Day
Eight Glasses a Day This is a pretty basic app, but it helps you keep track of how many glasses of water you drink a day. You might not think that you need help keeping track of such a common thing, but think about it... How many glasses of water have you had today? Mmhm.. thought so :)
  4. First Time Triathlon
First Time Triathlon This app is $9.99, but some of you first-timers might find it incredibly valuable. FTT gives you a personalized (based on training level), detailed 12-week workout plan to prepare for a triathlon. Training resources, including proper form, equipment, race strategy, workout guidelines and nutrition.
  5. EveryTrail Pro
EveryTrail Pro EveryTrail allows you to track your route with your GPS as you walk, bike, hike, sail, etc. You can plot pictures you've taken along your trail and share your trial with friends. You can also see trails from other travelers. An app I'd use in conjunction with this is Mountain Bike Trails ($4.99) MBT offers detailed directions to over 5,000 mountain bike trails across the country.
