lydia2's picks
  1. Medical Calculator
Medical Calculator MedCalc (medical calculator) To be honest, I didn't know what a Dermatome Map was, until this application. I think it's just neat to learn new things and I'm sure very useful if you are in the medical field.
  2. AllTheCountries: Countries of the World (Capitals, Flags, Maps)
AllTheCountries: Countries of the World (Capitals, Flags, Maps) If you love geography, travel, and facts then you'll love this app. ALLTHECOUNTRIES is mostly made up of facts, but if I'm ever on Jeopardy and the category is flags, I'll ace it.
  3. Brookings Institution
Brookings Institution I had no idea about the Brookings Institution, until I read a news article and downloaded this app. What an excellent resource for social and public policy information! Major topics include: Energy and Climate, Growth through Innovation, Managing Global Change, and Opportunity and Well-being. Ahhhhhhhh, I have so much to learn!
  4. Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus - Free
Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus - Free Awesome, helpful, and comprehensive! This app delivers as promised.
  5. Epocrates
Epocrates Wow, I'm impressed! There is a lifetime of information in this app. Unless you are in the medical field or even more of a dork than I am, I can't imagine the need for a paid subscription. The only downside is that you do have to create an account, which takes minimal time, but is still annoying. It's worth it! Epocrates Rx Free Epocrates Rx Pro-$99 Epocrates Essentials-$159 Epocrates Essentials Deluxe-$199
  6. Flags World
Flags World This app is an an excellent tool to learn and teach the Flags of the world. Not only does it show you the flag of each country, it also tells you how far away you are from that country by using your current location via mapview. In addition, it gives an encyclopedic description of every country. Highly Recommend!
  7. The Chemical Touch: Lite Edition
The Chemical Touch: Lite Edition A very basic periodic table. I don't know many people besides students, who need this on a day to day basis, but who knows? It might come in handy like that scientific calculator I still carry around.
  8. US Military Acronyms and Abbreviations
US Military Acronyms and Abbreviations I downloaded this app because I wanted to seem cool around my guys friends who are either in the military, or love the military. Unfortunately, they don't always know what I'm talking about. Who knew there were so many acronyms? If you're a dork like me, you'll find it interesting. If you're looking to bond with alpha males, then just stick to the commonly used phrases like AWOL.
  9. World Wiki
World Wiki World Wiki gives you the basic facts about every country on our planet and includes a picture of their flag and audio of their national anthem. I think the most usable feature it offers is the calling code for each country. This app is a very basic intro to the globe and the global economy. Neat!
  10. WDI DataFinder
WDI DataFinder Everything you ever wanted to know about the world bank! This app includes charts and presentations to help you share and understand the data. Very Comprehensive! Fifty years of world economics right on your iphone. Wow!
