I had not heard of Gate Maps - thanks for bringing it to my attention - very useful.

Gate Maps is killer! I was stuck in Phila once and I swear they had two gates with the same name (on opposite ends of the airport, of course!). I was torn on where to go so I checked Gate Maps and they confirmed the right one. I was saved!! It is almost better than my best coupons app, which is saying a lot! Trust me, Gate Maps is very useful

Gate Maps was designed with the expectation that you'll usually refer to a terminal map while in-flight or in areas with limited connectivity, and therefore works in Airplane mode (no network connection needed for terminal info), on either an iPhone or iPod Touch. Also, given many airport sites use Flash for their maps, accessing such content from your iPhone/iPod Touch is currently not possible. PDF is another popular format, but the download time negates a quick lookup when you're rushing to make that connection!

Great list! I've really found Tripit to be the perfect travel planner/tracker as well. You should seriously consider adding Yelp and Breadcrumbs to your list!

I think I will add Yelp because it does have a ton of features. I haven't tried Breadcrumbs. Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

LocalEats is a great help when you don't have much time in a city and don't want to "waste" your meals! It only lists the good, local restaurants, and that doesn't mean the most expensive. Great in the top 50 US cities, and includes smaller markets, although more limited in selections.

I love traveling so all of these apps seem very useful, especially the kayak one! I use kayak.com so Im familiar with it and it finds me cheap deals

Great list... I'd add Skype for when you need to make a call from a rural area (where you can get wifi, cause you can get wifi everywhere!) and Yelp just so you know if that restaurant stinks or not.

I travel around the World once a month and built this mighty little app to keep track of my flights or find me some quick alternatives in case of delays or cancellations.

If you are into remembering restaurants to come back to, try "My Restaurants". Great for keeping restaurants' info when you travel so you can call for reservations or send to people who ask for recommendations. Lots of features like map locator etc.
