The eReader is a good companion for reading on a bus, plane or train. It’s obviously smaller than a paperback book and can be operated with one hand, but if you read quickly, your thumb could tire as you constantly flick through the pages. Only a small amount of text can fit on the iPhone or iPod Touch's screen.

Readers flick through pages as they would pictures in the iPhone's photo library. You don't need to scroll pages up or down, a nice feature, just flick forward when you're ready for the next page.

More than 100,000 books are available for eReader, including best-sellers from Stephanie Meyer or Stephen King. But I couldn’t find very many titles by authors such as Hunter S. Thompson, Cormac McCarthy or Jeffery Eugenides.

Books on the eReader can be downloaded from Ereader.com or Fictionwise. The books load quickly, so you can be reading within minutes. Users will have to set up an account with eReader.com or Fictionwise to download a book selection.

The eReader is good for short reading times. I wouldn’t want to read a book on the iPhone all the time, but it’s fine for life's daily adventures.
